| Antioch to Close Main College
The connection between Acdemia and real-world practise were the thing. "Social Justice" as a pursuit became the thing as the times demanded it. Antioch, as an open institution that is/was very responsive to what is going on in the outside world, happened to be a very conducive institution to respond to these demands. But to claim it as a be all, end all of the College is, for me short-sighted. I, for one (almost literally it feels like), come at the College from the perspective of an artist (albeit a minor one that wil die obscure...hey, just like Mozart!). While I was there in the 70’s, under the aegis of two well-known avant-guard filmmakers, the film department was the place to be. But of course because of that "avant-garde" thing, no one except those of us who majored in film and a few other wise art majors really knew it.

Author wants San Antonians to get fit
A San Antonio fitness buff and author is taking his message public this month, launching a campaign to get more people to make exercise part of their daily routine. Bob Brinkmann is a man on a mission, and he practices what he preaches. After a lifelong love affair with fitness and 20 years in the Army, he wrote the book "Fitness Timer," a daily log and manual to keep exercise top of mind. It has information on everything from strength training to nutrition. "I do believe very strongly in health and fitness," Brinkmann said. "I like everyone around me to be fit. I find that people are happier and they can do a lot more activities, not only as a family, but individually as well." Brinkmann has partnered with local gyms like Lifetime Fitness and Sports and Nutrition stores.

Also don't even think about bringing a companion home if you're going to get really hammered. The girl who looked gorgeous last night might look like Barbara Bush the next morning after you've taken the beer goggles off -- Barnaby Scribbner. DFO: Why is it that guys are concerned about getting so hammered that they might not recall taking an ugly woman home with them the night before? But you never hear a woman complaining about being so wasted that she ended up with a guy who looks like General Grievous from the last "Star Wars"? There aren't that many handsome guys either. Seems to be a double standard here. .
